BMW 850i Stainless Steel Exhaust for the Big V12

The BMW 850i is a rare sight in the UK. Even back in the early 1990's, they were sold in quite small numbers. With a price tag of over £100,000 even then, they were pretty expensive and also rather complex machines.BMW 850i exhaust systems like this can be hard to come by and pretty expensive, so the owner of this car asked us to create a complete stainless steel exhaust system for his V12.

Martin created the system using the old exhaust as a rough guide, then spent pretty much a full day creating the complex curves of the twin exhaust for the BMW 850i. The owner chose new tail pipes from our range of stainless steel tailpipe styles and we fabricated the entire system for him.

While a system like this wasn't cheap, in fact is was significantly cheaper than some mild steel exhausts he'd found, plus it cost less than the original BMW 850i exhaust system. The final element was to create a fruity exhaust tone for the big V12, Martin selected some stainless steel exhaust boxes that we knew would create the sound the owner wanted, but without becoming intrusive on long motorway journeys.

We love to see these unusual and rare cars in our workshop, with it's new exhaust system in place and under the care of it's owner, this modern classic will be good for many years yet.

Renault Clio 2.0 16v Stainless Steel Exhaust

We've created several of these Renault Clio Sport 2.0 stainless steel exhaust systems just recently, so we thought you might like to see what the old and new systems look like. The most surprising thing is just how large the original Renault silencers are. It's pretty remarkable that Renault manage to install such a big system under the floor of such a relatively small hatchback. The old Renault Clio exhaust you see in these pictures are the original two back boxes.

They're actually pretty good quality, but nothing lasts for ever and the owner of this car needed a replacement stainless steel system. We removed the old rusted silencers then custom made this twin outlet system to fit the original bumper outlets. Towards the front, everything was still in good shape, so we mated the new stainless steel components to the existing exhaust.

The new system is slightly sportier in tone, but not particularly loud and as it's stainless steel, we guarantee it for as long as the owner drives that car.

Rare Toyota Landcruiser 60 Series Here For An Exhaust

Here's a rare old vehicle. The Toyota Landcruiser 60 series is legendary in all of those places that you really need a dependable vehicle for. Simple and very tough, the UK climate of the 1980's wasn't kind to them and you don't often see them any more. This one arrived at our workshop after extensive restoration by it's new owner including heavy duty overland suspension and significant bodywork restoration. He requested full stainless steel exhaust system with a duplex twin exit tail section.

The created the entire system from scratch in stainless steel, meaning that with the investment by it's owner, this Landcruiser will live on for many years to come.

Nothing Lasts Forever, Not Even A Lexus Exhaust

We'd be the first to acknowledge that the durable stainless steel exhausts that are standard on Lexus are probably amongst the best manufacturers exhausts. But nothing lasts forever and eventually, they need replacing. This V8 Lexus GS430 came to our workshops with parts of the system worn out. By keeping the good parts, closest to the engine, we were able to fabricate a complete system towards the read made from stainless steel. Lexus are whisper quiet, but our owner wanted to release some of that pent up aluminium V8 sound, so we created s system using just two rear silencers. The final exhaust tone was nice and fruity without being too loud. We think the owner was quite impressed with the new character of his car.

It's The Little Details...

It's the little details that make the difference, often something you wouldn't notice, unless it was wrong. The rear bumper of the Golf GTi is quite ightly curved where the exhaust exits. So if an owner wants a twin exit tailpipe, then the two exits need to be staggered to follow the bumper's curve. It's something we do on a regular basis and we like to think our customers appreciate our attention to detail to keep their cars looking right.

Honda Civic Aerodeck Complete Stainless Steel Exhaust

We've had a rush of stainless steel exhaust systems to build this past week, here's another custom made stainless steel exhaust system, this time built to the customer's specification. The car needed a new system and the owner decided that a stainless steel replacement exhaust was the best thing. He requested an exhaust with a bit more tone to it, but not too loud. The system Martin created in our workshops was still silenced, but ran without a centre box, giving exactly the sound the owner wanted, as well as a long lasting stainless steel exhaust system.

Vauxhall Zafira Stainless Steel replacement Exhaust

The owner of this Vauxhall Zafira needed a new exhaust system and decided to invest in a full stainless steel system from the catalyst backover. The new system replicated the original Vauxhall system but is custom built in stainless steel, so will last far longer than the original

Vauxhall Astra Stainless Steel Exhaust

Vauxhall Astra stainless steel exhaustHere's an interesting exhaust request we worked on just recently. The owner of this Vauxhall Astra Turbo had a failed 'flexi-pipe' section. Either side of this, the exhaust was in good condition, so we were able to re-use that and graft in a new flexi-pipe. Further back, we replaced the rusted exhaustwith a stainless steel rear section, finished off with a brand new tail pipe selected by the customer. These pictures show you the full system finished.

By fitting this system, the owner saved a considerable amount over a full exhaust from a main dealer or a standard fast fit system, plus it's now stainless steel and will last much longer. The custom exhaust tip is a nice detail touch that the owner decided upon.

vito1Following on this week on bespoke exhausts, we've discovered a really interesting thing if you're a Mercedes Vito van owner in need of a new exhaust. If you have a rear wheel drive Vito van and the exhaust needs replacing, why not consider this?
Last week, we fitted a complete replacement stainless steel exhaust system to a rear wheel drive Vito for significantly less than the cost of an original Mercedes system. Not only that, but the owner asked us the create this neat looking duplex system for the rear end treatmentto smarten up his van. If you've been dismayed by the cost of a replacement exhaust, give us a try. You'll be surprised just how cost effective a stainless steel exhaust system can be.
